Lexie Ann and Lainey Brooke Castillo
Kerry Castillo and Jennifer (Hopkins) Castillo of Sheridan are pleased to announce the birth of their identical twin girls, Lainey Brooke Castillo and Lexie Anne Castillo, born at 8:31 a.m. and 8:32 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Lainey Brooke weighed 3 lbs., 4 ozs. and was 15.75 inches in length. Lexie Anne weighed 4 lbs., 3 ozs. and was 16 inches in length. The twins were delivered by Richard Wyatt, II.
Maternal grandparents are _Jean Hopkins of Sheridan and Tim Hopkins of Sheridan. Maternal great-grandparents are Johnnie Bradley of Sheridan.
Alex and Felicia Castillo of McGehee and Doyle and Zelma Book of Hamburg.
Grace Catherine Gary
Daniel and Allison Gary of Jonesboro are pleased to announce of their first child, a daughter, Grace Catherine Gary, born May 3, 2008 at St. Benards Hospital in Jonesboro. She weighed 7 lbs., 6 ozs.
Grandparents are Don and Barbara Blackmore of Jonesboro, Dwight and Angela Gary of Jonesboro and David and Sandy Fitzgerald of Sheridan.
Great-grandparents include Duaine and Deanna Blackmore of Conway, Billy and Mary Smith of Cotton Plant, James and Zora Williams of Rector and Liz Campbell of Sheridan.
Anniversaries
Couple celebrates 30th anniversary
Alton and Joyce Griffin Davis of Grapevine will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on June 21. They will be honored at a reception from 6-8 p.m. at the Hilcrest Inn in Sheridan.
The couple was married on June 10, 1978 at Lea Ridge (now Marks Memorial) Church of God in Christ in the Farindale Community. Elder Vernon Jimerson of Carthage officiated the ceremony.
Joyce is the daughter of the late Lee and Laurine Griffin. She is employed with the Department of Finance and Administration. Alton is the son of Hattie Allen of Grapevine, and is employed with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
An open invitation is extended to all friends and family. The couple requests no gifts. Only your presence is requested.
Mr. and Mrs. William David Slocum, Sr.
Slocums celebrate 60th anniversary
William David Slocum, Sr. and Mildred Louise Swarner (Bill and Millie) were married in the First Methodist Church at Baton Rouge, La., on May 15, 1948, by the Rev. Lewis N. Stuckey. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family crawfish boil on May 18, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at their home in Sheridan. The event was hosted by their son, Dave and his wife, Jane.
Bill and Millie have one son: William David Slocum, Jr. (Dave) and wife, Jane, and three granddaughters: Laura Ellen Slocum and husband, Clint Holt of Bryant, Megan Marie Slocum and husband, Greg Witonski of Mena, and Sarah Jane Slocum, who recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas and currently holds the Miss UCA title. The Slocums had another son, Thomas Clark Slocum, who lived in Baton Rouge, La. and was taken by cancer in 1994.
They have three great-grandchildren: David and Meredith Witonski of Mena and Hannah Holt of Bryant.
Mildred Swarner Slocum is the daughter of the late William Clark and Mabel Gardner Swarner of Louisiana and Mississippi. William D. Slocum, Sr., is the son of the late William Raynor and Myrtle Lockhart Slocum of Louisiana.
The Slocums are new-comers in Sheridan having lived here for one year. They are enjoying their retirement in this beautiful area and seeing their grandchildren and great-grandchildren often.
